Our Ronald Ossory Dunlop painting for sale is executed as an oil on panel with strong heavy impasto marks. An assured artists’ hand displaying control of light and form in this complex and deliciously rich still life painting of Chrysanthemums in a bowl. As an unsigned work, we are thankful to Ruth Cope from Granta Fine Art of Cambridge for confirming in writing this painting as the work of Dunlop and a painting she has previously had the pleasure of selling.

Dunlop's artistic journey began with his formal training at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he honed his skills and developed a distinctive style characterised by bold colors, expressive brushwork, and a keen eye for composition. Dunlop was an ‘Alla Prima’ painter, working quickly and laying down oil paints ‘wet on wet’. Artists employing the alla prima technique often work with bold, expressive brushstrokes, aiming to capture the energy and vitality of the subject matter. This approach requires a certain level of confidence and skill, as there is little room for correction or adjustment once the paint is applied.

Ronald Ossory Dunlop remains a revered figure in art history, his name synonymous with creativity, passion, and artistic excellence.
