Clive Williams (1944-2015) | Dark Forms

An interesting piece of 1980’s British Art.

An abstract painting from artist Clive Williams, featuring a pair of dark, almost circular or ovoid forms, with hair like lines across them, reminiscent of Alexander MacKenzie’s works from the early 1960’s (Clive Williams was a student of MacKenzie’s from 1960 to 1964).  On the left form there is an intriguing 1cm black square marked by the artist, and the whole painting has a sand like texture and a matt metallic patinated finish similar to an aged bronze coin. Curious painting, worth viewing if you are a Mod Brit collector.
