An original and exhibited Fred Yates Oil Painting of his garden in Rancon, France.

‘Fred’s garden in Rancon in the Dordogne was filled with paint tubes and old palettes that lay discarded ‘like old rifle shells’ as he completed a series of garden paintings using heavy impasto applied with his hands. In reality the garden was completely overgrown.’ From the label on verso.

Fred Yates, the renowned artist from Urmston, Manchester, enlivened the British art scene with his unique approach to impasto painting. With bold brushstrokes and applying thick layers of paint with his fingers, Yates created textured masterpieces that exude energy and emotion.

Throughout his life, his works, often signed ‘Fred Yates’ in a scratched or messy fashion, showcase his mastery of colour and contrast, inviting viewers into his world of vibrant colours and dynamic compositions. Explore the captivating artistry of Fred Yates and discover the beauty of this British impasto painter.
